Lineup: put items in the correct order
Sequencing questions need their own format. Lineup asks participants to drag a set of items into order, then scores them against the sequence you define as correct.
Some knowledge isn't about picking the right single answer — it's about knowing how a set of things relates to each other: which historical events came first, which steps happen in what order, which values are biggest to smallest. Multiple choice can't really test that kind of understanding, since it can only ask about one item at a time. Lineup is built specifically for it: participants see a shuffled list and drag items into what they believe is the correct order, and Slidea checks their sequence against the answer key you set.
Because the drag interaction itself is the whole experience, Lineup tends to land best with a moderate number of items — enough to make the ordering genuinely uncertain, but not so many that dragging becomes tedious on a phone screen. Five to eight items is a comfortable range for most questions; beyond that, consider whether the question could be split into two smaller Lineup slides instead.

Describe the task
Write a clear instruction so participants know what "correct order" means — for example, "Arrange these launches from earliest to most recent."

Set the time limit and points
Adjust how long participants have to finish reordering and how many points a fully correct sequence earns.

An item placed one spot off from correct typically still earns some points — a perfect match isn't the only way to score.
Most participants will be dragging items on a phone. Five to eight items keeps the reordering quick; a longer list gets fiddly to drag precisely on a small screen.
Frequently asked questions
How is partial credit calculated?
Each item earns points based on how close its placed position is to its correct position — an item exactly right earns full credit for that item, and credit decreases the further off it lands.
Can I use images instead of text for the items?
Yes — each item can carry an image, text, or both, which works well for a visual sequencing question like ordering photos by date.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of items?
Lineup requires at least three items to make ordering meaningful. There's no hard maximum, but keep the list short enough to drag comfortably on a phone — five to eight items is a good target.
What's the difference between Lineup and Ranking?
Lineup is scored against one correct order that you define ahead of time. Ranking is unscored — it collects everyone's individual ordering and combines them into an aggregate result, with no single "correct" sequence.
