Word Cloud: everyone's answer, at a glance

Ask a room a one-word question and Word Cloud turns every answer into a single visual — words repeated by more people simply grow larger.

Word Cloud is the slide to open a session with when you want an instant, honest snapshot of how a group feels or thinks, without anyone having to justify their answer. "Sum up this quarter in one word," "What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear 'change management'?", or a classroom warm-up asking students for one word describing how they feel about an upcoming exam — all work well because the format rewards brevity and doesn't ask anyone to write a full thought. Watching the cloud reshape itself live is also simply more engaging to look at than a list or a bar chart, which makes it a strong choice for a session's opening minute when you want to grab attention.

If the question genuinely needs a full sentence to answer — not just a word or short phrase — Open Ended is the better fit; cramming a longer thought into Word Cloud just produces a cloud of unrelated fragments instead of a clean cluster of shared language.

1. Add the slide

   Select New Slide → Word Cloud under Interaction.

2. Ask something short

   Fill in the Question field with a prompt built for a word or two — "Sum up this quarter in one word" works better than a question needing a sentence.

3. Cap submissions if you want to

   Limit how many words each person can add in Settings — a cap of one or two keeps the cloud focused, while a higher cap invites a richer but noisier result.

4. Turn on the profanity filter for larger or public groups

   With an open-ended text field, it's worth switching on moderation before a large or public audience joins — see the note below.

5. Present and watch it form

   The cloud reshapes live as responses arrive — more submissions of the same word means a bigger word, so the shape of the whole cloud tells the story of the room's answer.
