Importing a PowerPoint file
You don't have to abandon a deck you've already built. Bring it in as-is, then layer interactive slides on top rather than starting over.
Most presenters don't build a Slidea deck from a blank canvas — they arrive with a PowerPoint file that already carries the content, the branding, and the structure someone spent real time on. Importing turns that finished deck into a starting point instead of dead weight: every slide comes in as a fully editable Content slide, in the same order, so nothing about the original work is thrown away.
The point of importing isn't to end up with a static copy of your PowerPoint inside Slidea — it's to get your existing narrative in place quickly so you can insert the interactive moments around it. A typical pattern: import a quarterly review deck, then drop a Select Answer or Pick the Number slide after the slides that need audience engagement, and a Word Cloud after the closing slide to gather live feedback. The import does the heavy lifting; you only need to design the parts that are new.

Importing brings your file in once. Later edits made back in the original PowerPoint file won't reflect automatically — re-import if the source has changed significantly.

Frequently asked questions
Will animations and transitions from my PowerPoint file carry over?
Slide content, layout, text, and images import; PowerPoint-specific animations and slide transitions don't, since Slidea uses its own presentation engine. Recreate any motion you need using Slidea's own effects once the slide has landed.
What happens to speaker notes?
Speaker notes attached to each slide come across with the import and appear in the same notes area you'd use for a slide built natively in Slidea.
Can I import into an existing Slidea deck instead of starting a new one?
Yes — run the import from within any deck and the incoming slides are added to your current slide list rather than replacing it, so you can merge a PowerPoint file into a presentation you've already started.
What file types are supported?
Both the legacy .ppt format and the modern .pptx format import cleanly. If your file is a Keynote or Google Slides export, save or export it as .pptx first, or use the dedicated Google Slides import if it already lives in Drive.
