Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy describes how Slidea (“Slidea”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you use our website and services (collectively, the “Service” or “Platform”). It also explains your privacy rights and how the law protects you. We have updated our policy to ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws and to incorporate best practices observed in our industry.
By using Slidea, you (“User” or “you”) agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Who Shares Their Data With Us
We collect data depending on individuals and entities who interact with our Service. For clarity, “you” may fall into one of the following categories:

- Audience Members: People who join presentations to vote, submit answers, or interact with slides without necessarily registering an account.
- Team Members: Users invited to collaborate within a team workspace.
- Organizational Contacts: Persons who act as a point of contact on behalf of a company or organization that is our customer (for instance, the administrator of a team account).
- Website Visitors: Individuals who visit our website or landing pages, or engage with us via email or social media, without logging into an account.
Regardless of which category you fall under, this Policy covers how we handle your data.
2. Interpretation and Definitions

- Service Provider: Any third-party company or individual that processes data on behalf of Slidea to help us provide the Service. This includes third parties we employ to support the Service (such as hosting providers, analytics services, payment processors, etc.), to perform functions in connection with the Service, or to assist us in analyzing how the Service is used. These are essentially our authorized data subprocessors.
- Third-Party Social Media Service: Any third-party website or social network platform (such as Google, Meta, Twitter, or LinkedIn) through which a user can log in or create an account on our Service.
- Usage Data: Data collected automatically when you interact with our Service, either generated by your use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself (for example, the duration of a page visit).
- "You": The individual accessing or using the Service, or the company/organization on whose behalf such individual is using the Service. (For example, if you are using Slidea on behalf of your employer, "you" may refer to both you as an individual and your employer as the entity.)
3. Personal Data We Collect
We collect several types of information from and about users of our Service, including:
3.1 Information You Provide to Us
While using Slidea, we may ask you to provide certain personally identifiable information. This information is provided directly by you, for example when registering an account, filling in forms, or contacting support.
This Personal Data includes, but is not limited to:
- Contact Information: e.g. your name (first name, last name), email address, and phone number.
- Profile and Account Details: e.g. organization or company name, your role or job title, and profile images or logos you choose to upload. For instance, if you create a team or company account, you might upload your company's logo or provide company details.
- Billing Information: If you purchase a paid plan or services, you may provide billing details such as billing address and payment method information (however, see the Payment Information section below regarding how payment data is handled).
- Content You Upload: Any user-generated content you upload or create using Slidea. This includes presentations, slides, images, questions, answers, polls, comments, or other materials you input into the Service. If you do include personal data (yours or others') in such content, you are responsible for it. Slidea will treat any personal data contained in user-generated content in accordance with this Privacy Policy, but we rely on you to ensure you have the right to use and share that data.
- Communication Data: If you contact us directly (for example, via support email or feedback forms), we will receive the information you provide in those communications (such as your contact details and the content of your message).
3.2 Information We Collect Automatically
When you use our Service (whether as a registered user, audience member, or visitor), we automatically collect certain data about your device and usage of the platform. This Usage Data helps us analyze and improve our Service and includes:
- Device and Connection Information: We collect technical information about the device you use to access Slidea, such as your device type (e.g. PC, iPhone, Android phone), operating system and version, unique device identifiers, browser type and version, preferred language, and your screen resolution or app version. We also log the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your device and information about your network connection (e.g., mobile network or ISP).
- Usage Details: We record details of your activities on our Service, like the pages or screens you view, the features you use, the time and date of your visits, actions you take (e.g. creating or answering a poll), the amount of time spent on each page, error logs, and referral URLs (how you arrived at our site). For example, we may track that a user visited our "Help" page or that an audience member responded to a specific slide in a presentation. This data may include timestamps and sequencing (the order of pages visited).
- Cookies and Tracking Technologies: Slidea uses cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons, pixels, and local storage) to recognize you and collect information about your interaction with our Service:
- Cookies: These are small text files stored in your browser. We use both session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which remain on your device for a set period or until deleted) to remember your preferences, maintain your login session, and personalize content. For example, cookies allow you to stay logged in as you navigate between pages, and they help us remember your preferred language or other settings.
- Web Beacons & Pixels: Our emails and certain pages may contain tiny electronic files or snippets of code that act as tags (also called clear GIFs or pixel tags). These are used to count users who have opened an email or visited a page and to compile other related statistics (e.g., recording the popularity of certain content and verifying system integrity).
We may partner with third-party analytics and advertising partners who deploy cookies or pixels on our site to help us understand how you use the site and to market Slidea to you on other platforms. These third parties may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use our Service. (See Section 8: "Your Choices"))
Note: Wherever possible, we anonymize or aggregate Usage Data so it does not directly identify you. For instance, we may keep logs of feature usage to identify trends (e.g., "X% of users clicked this button"). This aggregated data helps us improve the Service and may be shared in a non-personal form (as described later in How We Share Your Data).
3.3 Information from Third-Party Services
If you choose to interact with or through a Third-Party Social Media Service or integration, we may receive certain information about you from that third party services:
- Social Logins: Slidea allows you to register or log in using accounts from services like Google, Meta, Twitter, or LinkedIn. With your permission, these platforms may share with us basic profile details such as your name, email address, and possibly other information on your social profile (like your public avatar/image). We only collect the information that the third-party service is authorized to share and that is necessary for the registration or login process. This helps you streamline account creation and login.
- Permissions: In some cases, you may grant us additional permissions through these services. If you do so, you will be informed about any information we access or store. We will use, share, and store that information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. You can revoke our access via your settings on the third-party service (for example, you can remove Slidea's access to your Google account at any time via your Google account permissions). We will not use your personal data for purposes incompatible with those described here without notifying you and/or updating this Privacy Policy.
- Other Third-Party Sources: We generally do not obtain data about you from data brokers or public databases. If we ever do (for instance, to enrich your account info for business contact purposes or to tailor our marketing), we will ensure any such data is obtained lawfully and that you are notified as required by law. (At present, Slidea does not augment user data from external sources beyond the services you connect yourself to.)
3.4 Special Note on Integrations
One of Slidea's core strengths is its seamless integration with various third-party services to enhance your presentation and collaboration experience. When you connect Slidea with these services, we may collect and process certain information strictly to enable and improve these integrations. Below is an overview of each:
3.4.1 Zoom
When you integrate Slidea with Zoom:
- We may collect your Zoom account details necessary to link and authenticate the integration (e.g., meeting ID).
- This allows you to launch or embed Slidea presentations directly in Zoom meetings, collect audience responses, or manage live polls within Zoom sessions.
- Slidea does not access or record your Zoom meeting audio or video content.
- You can revoke Slidea's access through your Zoom account settings at any time.
Your Data, Your Choice: All these integrations are optional. While they greatly enhance your experience and enable powerful live interaction and collaboration features, you can choose not to connect any of these services. Slidea will continue to work as a standalone service.
If you do use it, we want you to know that your privacy is our priority during the process. We employ robust security measures (outlined in Section 9: Security) to protect data transmitted between Slidea and these third-party platforms. You always have control over what you connect and can manage or revoke these connections through your Slidea account or the respective third-party service settings at any time.
4. How We Use Your Personal Data
Slidea uses your information for various purposes in order to operate effectively and provide you with a great experience. We only use your personal data when we have a valid legal basis to do so – such as your consent, the necessity to perform a contract (provide the service you requested), compliance with legal obligations, or our legitimate interests (balanced with your rights). Below we outline the specific uses of personal data:
- To Provide and Maintain Our Service: We process your data to set up your account, allow you to log in, and enable core functionality of Slidea. For example, we use your information to authenticate you as a user, to display your presentations, and to save your settings and preferences. We also use data to monitor the usage of our Service and ensure it is working reliably (e.g. tracking uptime, performance metrics, number of active users, etc.).
- To Manage Your Account: This includes managing your registration and profile as a user. The personal details you provide allow us to distinguish you from other users. As a registered user, your data enables access to different features available only to account holders (for example, saving your projects to your profile, or accessing team collaboration features if applicable).
- For the Performance of a Contract: When you purchase a subscription or paid features from Slidea, we use your data to process the transaction and fulfill our contract with you. This encompasses payment processing (through third-party payment processors), sending you invoices or receipts, and providing the paid services. It also covers enforcing our Terms of Service – for instance, using data to ensure you're abiding by our usage policies.
- To Communicate with You: We may use your email address or phone number to contact you with important updates or information related to the Service:
- Service and Account Updates: such as confirmation of account actions, password resets, security alerts, or significant changes to this Privacy Policy or our Terms.
- Customer Support: if you reach out with questions or issues, we will use your contact and relevant account data to respond and help you.
- Surveys and Feedback: occasionally, we might request feedback to improve Slidea (participation is optional).
- Marketing and Newsletters: If you have not opted out, we will send you news about new features, special offers, or events we think you'd like – but only for Slidea or closely related services. We do not spam and you can unsubscribe at any time (each marketing email will include an easy opt-out link).
- To Provide Interactive Features (Presenter/Audience interactions): If Slidea facilitates interactions (e.g., live polls, Q&A) between you and other users, the data you input (such as votes or questions) may be displayed to others as part of the service's intended functionality. For example, if you as an audience member submit a question, that question might be shown to the presenter and other audience members. Similarly, if you as a presenter publish a poll result, it will be visible to participants. These uses are intrinsic to the interactive nature of our platform.
- To Manage Your Requests: If you send us requests (like support tickets, or use any "Contact Us" features), we process your information to address those requests and communicate back with you.
- To Improve and Develop Our Service: We continually seek to make Slidea more useful, reliable, and user-friendly. We use data analytics to:
- Understand usage patterns: e.g. which features are most popular or where users encounter difficulties. This might involve automated analysis of how you navigate the interface or aggregated statistics on feature usage.
- Troubleshoot and debug: We examine error logs and crash reports (which may include some user device info or usage context) to fix issues.
- Develop new features: Insights from user behavior or feedback help guide the creation of new functionalities or content.
- Any analysis for improvement is typically done on anonymized or aggregated data. If we ever wish to use identifiable data for, say, user research or testimonials, we would seek your consent.
- AI-Powered Features: We want to note that if any AI-driven feature is added, we will use your data transparently and will not use your personal data to train general AI models without permission. Additionally, there will always be human oversight in any automated decision that could significantly affect you – we do not engage in purely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on individuals.
- To Enforce Policies and Ensure Security: We may process personal data to enforce our Terms of Service and other policies. This includes monitoring for fraudulent, suspicious, or malicious activity on the Service. For example, we might use your IP address and other identifiers to detect if someone is violating usage limits or if multiple accounts are being abused. We also use data to detect, prevent, and address potential security incidents, hacking attempts, illegal activities (like fraud), or misuse of our Service. This is both for your protection and the integrity of our platform.
- To Facilitate Business Transitions: If we consider or undergo a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy or asset sale, personal data may be among the assets evaluated or transferred to the involved parties.
- To Comply with Legal Obligations: Certain laws require us to process and retain data. For instance, tax and accounting laws might require record of transactions; or we may need to respond to lawful requests by public authorities. We will use or disclose personal data as necessary to meet these obligations.
- With Your Consent, For Other Purposes: If we ever need to use your data for a purpose not covered above, we will ask for your consent. For example, if we wanted to use a user testimonial or profile in our marketing, we'd obtain permission before doing so. We will not use your personal data for purposes incompatible with those described here without notifying you and/or updating this Privacy Policy.
5. How We Share Your Personal Data
Slidea understands that your personal information is important, and we share it with others only in certain situations and with appropriate safeguards. This section describes who we may share data with and why:
- 5.1. With Service Providers (Subprocessors): We may share your personal information with third-party companies and individuals that provide services on our behalf. These Service Providers help us run and improve Slidea. They include, for example:
- Hosting and Infrastructure: Cloud storage providers and server hosting services for e.g, hosting application, saving images (to store data and keep Slidea running 24/7).
- Analytics Services: Partners that help us analyze usage data and user behavior (e.g., Google Analytics), so we can improve the product.
- Email and Communication Tools: Platforms that assist in sending out service emails, newsletters, or in-app messages.
- Customer Support Tools: Services that help us manage support tickets or live chat with users.
- Payment Processors: (If you make purchases) secure third-party processors like Stripe or PayPal that handle your payment transactions. Note: We do not receive or store your full credit card details from these processors – we only get confirmation of payment and basic info like the last 4 digits or a payment token. (See Payment Information below.)
- These Service Providers are given access to personal data only as needed to perform their functions for us and are contractually obligated to protect it and use it solely for the purposes we specify. We require that all our subprocessors adhere to at least the same level of data protection that we commit to you in this Policy. Importantly, Slidea does not sell your personal data to any third parties for their own use. Any sharing is solely for Slidea's operational needs as described.
- 5.2. With Business Partners: Occasionally, Slidea may partner with other companies to offer co-branded services, promotions, or integrate functionalities. If you choose to engage with such offerings, we might share certain information with the partner to the extent it is required. For example, if we co-sponsor a webinar or event with another company and you sign up, we may share your registration info with them. We will let you know at the time of such events if a partner will receive your data, and you'll often have the chance to consent or opt-out. (If you do not engage with any co-branded programs, your data isn't shared with business partners apart from service providers described above.)
- 5.3. With Affiliates: If Slidea is part of a corporate group in the future (parent company, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control), we may share your information within that group. Any affiliates who receive your data will honor this Privacy Policy. For example, if Deckzi Solutions Private Limited establishes an EU-based subsidiary to handle European users, data might flow between the Indian entity and EU entity, but both are bound to protect it per this Policy.
- 5.4. With Other Users of the Service:
- If you are a presenter or content creator, information you choose to make public on the Service (such as a public profile, username, or any content in a public forum or public presentation) will be visible to others. For instance, if your profile displays a name and photo and you publish a public slideshow, viewers of that slideshow will see your profile info.
- If you are an audience member or participant, your inputs may be visible to the presenter and potentially to other audience members, depending on the features. For example, if you ask a question in a Q&A, your name might be displayed if you provided one (unless the system allows anonymous questions and you chose that). If you vote in a poll, typically results are aggregated and not tied to your name for other viewers, but the presenter may see if you responded (especially if the session is not anonymous).
- Social Sharing: If you log in via a Third-Party Social Media Service or interact with social features (like a "Share to Facebook" button), those platforms might display your name or actions to your social connections. Similarly, if you invite friends to Slidea or collaborate on a presentation with others, those individuals might see your email or name as part of the invite.
- Slidea cautions users to be mindful of what they share in any public or shared areas of the Service. We strive to provide settings to control visibility (e.g., making a presentation private or public). Any personal information you share openly can potentially be viewed or used by others, so please exercise discretion.
- 5.5. In Business Transfers: If Slidea engages in or is subject to a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy proceeding, your personal data may be transferred to the successor or acquirer as part of that transaction. If such a transfer occurs, we will ensure the recipient is bound to respect your personal data in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy and applicable law. We will also notify you (for example, via email or a prominent notice on our website) before your personal data becomes subject to a different privacy policy or terms, giving you an opportunity to stop using the Service or exercise any rights you may have (such as deletion) if you wish.
- 5.6. For Legal Compliance and Protection: Slidea may disclose your personal data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with the law: We will share information to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request. For instance, responding to a court order or subpoena, or cooperating with regulators when required.
- Enforce our rights: We may need to disclose data to enforce our Terms of Service or other agreements, or to investigate potential violations (e.g., fraud or abuse). This could include sharing data with law enforcement or consultants (like attorneys or auditors) to handle a violation.
- Prevent harm: We might share information if necessary to detect, prevent, or otherwise address illegal activities, suspected fraud, security or technical issues. For example, exchanging information with other companies and organizations for cybersecurity protection or credit risk reduction.
- Protect safety: To protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Slidea, our users, or the public. For example, in urgent situations (imminent threats to anyone's safety) we might provide information to authorities.
- These kinds of disclosures will be made only to the extent required or permitted by law. Whenever feasible and legally permissible, we will inform affected users about such requests.
- 5.7. With Your Consent: Apart from the cases listed above, we will not share your personal data with third parties unless you have given us your explicit consent to do so. If you opt-in to a specific data sharing (for example, if you say "yes" to having your contact info shared with a partner for a one-time event, or if you ask us to integrate with a third-party service that requires data exchange), we will honor that and share accordingly. You have the right to revoke such consent at any time (e.g., by unlinking a third-party integration or contacting us).
- 5.8. Aggregated or De-Identified Data: We may share aggregated data that does not identify you personally with third parties for various purposes. For instance, we might publish usage statistics or share trends with prospective partners or in public reports – e.g., "Slidea had 1,000 active users in June" or "70% of Slidea users are located in Asia," or in marketing materials showcase the number of slides created on our platform. This information contains no personal identifiers and cannot be traced back to you. Aggregated insights help illustrate how our service is used without compromising individual privacy.
In all cases of data sharing, Slidea remains committed to ensuring your personal information is handled securely and lawfully. We do not allow any third parties we share data with to use it for their own independent marketing or purposes not related to providing services to us, except in cases where you have personally agreed to such use.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
How long do we keep your data? We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements
- 6.1. Retention of Personal Data: We will keep your Personal Data (such as your account info, profile, and content) as long as you maintain an account with us or as needed to provide you services. If you are an active user, this means we generally retain your data until you decide to delete it or your account.
- If you delete your account or specific personal data, we will remove or anonymize that information within a reasonable timeframe, except as noted below.
- In some cases, even if you cease using Slidea, we may need to retain certain data for longer: to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. For example, we might retain minimal information to prove that you had an account and that it was closed (for legal record-keeping), or to honor an opt-out request for email (so we know not to send you further communications).
- We also retain data if required by law (e.g., financial transaction records may be kept for statutory tax or audit purposes typically for 7 years in many jurisdictions).
- 6.2. Retention of Usage Data: Usage Data (analytics, logs) is generally retained for a shorter period. Slidea may keep usage logs and backups for a certain retention period (for instance, raw web server logs might be kept for a few weeks or months). This helps us with troubleshooting and security. Once the retention period lapses, or once we've extracted aggregate insights, we either delete the raw data or anonymize it.
- However, if certain Usage Data is needed to bolster security or improve functionality, we might retain it longer. For instance, if we notice suspicious activity from a particular IP range, we might keep logs related to that to prevent future attacks. Also, if required for legal reasons (e.g., logs needed for an investigation), we'd retain relevant data as long as necessary.
- 6.3. Deletion of Personal Data: You have the right to request deletion of your personal data (often called the "right to be forgotten"). Slidea provides multiple ways to delete data:
- Self-Service: If you have an account, you can delete or modify certain personal information directly. For example, you can remove or change profile details in your account settings. We may also offer an "Delete Account" option in your profile settings – using this will initiate deletion of your account and associated personal data (after a confirmation step)
- By Request: You can always send us a deletion request at our support contact (see Contact Us section). Specify what data you want removed (e.g., "please delete my account and all personal data"). For security, we may need to verify your identity before deleting. Once verified, we will proceed with deletion.
- What Gets Deleted: When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account. This includes profile information, authentication info, and content. Content you created that was shared with others (e.g., a presentation you made public or collaborated on) will either be deleted or anonymized. We aim to completely remove your personal identifiers from our active databases.
- Backups and Residual Copies: Slidea's systems periodically back up data for reliability. When you delete data, it may not be immediately removed from backup storage. However, such backups are retained only for a limited time and are then overwritten. We also maintain logs of deletion requests to document compliance. These logs will contain minimal information (like your email and the date of deletion) and are kept secure.
- When Deletion May Be Delayed or Denied: In certain cases, we may retain some information despite a deletion request:
- If we are legally required to keep it (for example, an order from law enforcement not to delete data, or we need to preserve evidence).
- If there's a compelling legitimate interest to retain (very rare, and we'd communicate the reason if allowed – e.g., a pending litigation).
- If the data is in our automated backups that are not readily isolatable – in which case, it will remain until backups cycle out, but we won't use it for any active purpose.
- Rest assured, except for the scenarios above, we endeavour to honor deletion requests promptly. Once your data is deleted, you may lose access to any Slidea services or content associated with that data (for example, if you delete your account, you won't be able to log in or retrieve any presentations you created).
In summary, if you no longer want Slidea to have your data, you have the ability to remove it. We will only keep what we absolutely need to, and only for as long as necessary.
7. International Data Transfers
Slidea is headquartered in India, but our users are global. The information we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, servers and facilities located in a different country than your own. This could include countries that may not have the same level of data protection laws as in your jurisdiction.
- Operating Locations: Slidea's primary operations are in India. However, we may use cloud services (such as AWS or other providers) with data centers in other countries (e.g., the United States, Europe, or Asia-Pacific regions) to host and process data. Our Service Providers may also be based in or use servers in various countries. For example, if we use an email service that's based in the US, or analytics that store data in the EU, your data will travel to those locations.
- Your Consent to Transfer: By using our Service or submitting information to us, you consent to the transfer of your personal data internationally as needed for our business operations. We understand that different countries have different data protection laws, so we take steps to safeguard your information wherever it is.
- Adequate Safeguards: Whenever we transfer personal data out of its country of origin, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place. These may include:
- Contractual Protections: If you are in a region like the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, we rely on approved legal mechanisms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) to legitimize data transfers from the EEA/UK to India or other countries that lack an adequacy decision. These clauses contractually oblige the recipient of the data to protect it to EU standards.
- Binding Corporate Rules: If we ever become part of a multinational group with internal data transfers, we might implement corporate rules approved by regulators to allow free but safe movement of data within the company.
- Other Measures: Encryption (in transit and at rest), access controls, and rigorous vetting of foreign partners' security practices.
- Data Protection: No matter where your data is processed, we handle it in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Our security measures apply globally. We also comply with local requirements; for example, if a law in your country gives you additional rights or requires certain storage practices, we aim to honor those.
- Notice to EU/UK Users: Personal data that we collect from individuals in the EEA/UK may be transferred to countries which the European Commission (or UK authorities) have determined do not provide an "adequate" level of data protection (such as India or the US). In such cases, we will only transfer under a valid mechanism as noted above. You can contact us (see Contact Us at the end) if you have questions about international transfer of your personal data or to obtain a copy of the safeguards in place.
In short, we will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy, wherever it is processed. We understand that privacy protections should travel with your data.
8. Your Rights and Choices
We want you to be in control of your personal information. Depending on your jurisdiction and applicable law (such as GDPR if you're in Europe, or similar laws elsewhere), you may have certain rights regarding the personal data we hold about you. Slidea is committed to honoring these rights. This section outlines your rights and how you can exercise them, as well as other choices you have about your data (like opting out of cookies or marketing).
8.1. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Right to Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. This allows you to check what information we have and verify that we're processing it lawfully. How to exercise: You can request this by contacting us via email. For security, we may ask you to verify your identity before providing data. We will typically provide the information in a commonly used electronic format. (If you have an account, much of your data is accessible by logging in – e.g., you can see your profile info or content you uploaded.)
- Right to Rectification: If you find that any personal data we have is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to have it corrected. How to exercise: Many corrections you can do yourself by editing your profile or settings (e.g., updating your email if it changes). For any data not editable by you, contact us and we'll rectify inaccuracies promptly.
- Right to Erasure: As discussed in Section 6, you can request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances. This right, sometimes called "the right to be forgotten," is not absolute – but we will honor it provided we don't have a compelling reason to retain the data. How to exercise: Use the account deletion tools if available, or contact us to request erasure. We will let you know once we have deleted the data, or if it's not possible, we'll explain why (e.g., certain data we must keep for legal reasons).
- Right to Data Portability: You have the right to receive the personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. This right applies to data processed by us on the basis of your consent or for performance of a contract, and which is processed by automated means. How to exercise: Contact us with such a request. For example, you might want a JSON or CSV file of all your presentation metadata or profile information. We'll work with you to provide an export if it's applicable.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on consent to process your personal data, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. How to exercise: If you wish to withdraw consent, you can for instance unsubscribe from our marketing emails (click "unsubscribe" in any email) to withdraw consent for that. If you granted permission for a third-party integration and want to revoke it, you can usually do so in that third-party account's settings (e.g., remove Slidea's access in your Google account). For any other consents, contact us and specify what you want to revoke. Note: If you withdraw consent for something essential (like collection of necessary data to provide the Service), we might not be able to continue providing you that Service.
- Right to Restrict Processing: You can ask us to limit or "pause" the processing of your personal data in certain scenarios. For example, if you contest the accuracy of the data, or if you object to us processing it under our legitimate interest and we are considering your request. During this period of restriction, we will store the data but not use it. How to exercise: Contact us specifying which processing you want to restrict and why. We will evaluate if the request meets the criteria under law and inform you of the outcome. When processing is restricted, we will inform you before lifting the restriction.
- Right to Object: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data when that processing is based on legitimate interests (including profiling), or if we were using it for direct marketing. How to exercise: If you object to direct marketing, the simplest method is to use the unsubscribe link in those communications or adjust your account preferences to opt out of marketing – we will respect that. If you object to processing based on legitimate interest (for example, you might object to our use of your data for product improvement analytics), contact us with details. We will consider your objection and either stop processing or explain why we believe we have compelling grounds to continue (e.g., security of the service might be a compelling ground). However, we will always stop processing for direct marketing purposes if you object.
- Right not to be Subject to Automated Decision-Making: Slidea does not make any solely automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects. This right is more about if we had, say, an algorithm decide something major without human input (which we do not). In any case, you have the right to request human review of any automated decision and to express your point of view. (This is largely theoretical for Slidea's current services.)
- Right to Lodge a Complaint: If you believe we have infringed your privacy rights or violated any data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. For example:
- In the EU, you can complain to the data protection authority in your country of residence or where we are based. In India, while a comprehensive data protection authority is still evolving, you can reach out to us directly or any concerned regulatory body.
- We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns directly before you do this, so please consider reaching out to us first. We take complaints seriously and will respond promptly.
How soon will we respond? For data subject rights requests (access, deletion, etc.), we aim to respond within 30 days of receiving a valid request. If the request is complex or we have a high volume of requests, we may extend this by another 30 days, but we will inform you of the need for an extension.
Please note, these rights may be subject to certain exemptions or limitations under applicable law. For example, if fulfilling your request would adversely affect the rights and freedoms of others, or if we must retain data for legal obligations, we might not be able to fully comply. We will however inform you in such cases.
8.2. Your Choices (Opt-Outs and Preferences)
In addition to formal rights, we provide various ways you can control your data:
- Email and Communications: You can manage your subscription to our newsletters or promotional emails:
- If you do not wish to receive marketing emails, you can opt out at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any such email. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send you important transactional or service messages (like account recovery emails or critical notices about the Service).
- Cookies & Tracking: When you first visit our site, you may receive a notice about cookie usage. Depending on your location, we might offer a cookie consent manager where you can choose which types of cookies to accept (e.g., only necessary cookies vs. analytics).
- Regardless of a banner, you have browser-level controls: Most web browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. You can set your browser to block all cookies or to alert you when cookies are being set. However, note that if you disable cookies, some parts of our Service may not function properly (for example, you may not be able to log in or your preferences might not be saved).
- You can also use browser extensions or settings to control web beacons or tracking scripts. Another choice is using "private" or "incognito" mode for more ephemeral browsing.
- Do Not Track (DNT): Some browsers have a DNT feature that sends a signal to websites that you do not want to be tracked. The web industry hasn't adopted a consistent standard for processing DNT signals. At this time, Slidea's site does not respond to DNT signals in a uniform way. We recommend using the other options mentioned (cookie controls, etc.) for now.
- Third-Party Integrations: If you've connected third-party accounts or services to Slidea, you can manage those connections:
- For integration, you can revoke Slidea's access from your Google Account's security settings page (under "Third-party apps with account access"). Doing so will prevent Slidea from accessing your integrations going forward.
- For social logins (Meta/Twitter/LinkedIn), if you no longer want to log in that way, you can disconnect via your Slidea account settings (if available) or simply change your Slidea password to use our login instead. You can also remove the Slidea app's permissions from your social account settings.
- Presentations and Content Sharing: Within the Slidea app, you have choices over how you share your own content. If, for example, your presentation can be public, private or can be shared with your team, choose the appropriate setting. If you want to remove a presentation or any content you've created, you can delete it from your account. This will generally remove the content from view, but note that if others had access or if it was truly public, it might have been viewed or even copied by others while it was available.
- Opting Out of Audience Engagement: If you are an audience member who doesn't wish to submit any personal data when participating in a Slidea-powered presentation, you typically have the choice to interact anonymously (unless the presenter specifically requires identifying info). You can always choose not to answer a question or not to provide optional info.
We strive to make these choices and controls accessible. If you have any trouble finding or using a preference setting, please contact us and we'll guide you.
9. Security of Your Personal Data
We take the security of your information very seriously. Slidea implements a variety of technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, it's important to remember that no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
What we do to protect data:
- Encryption: We use encryption to protect data in transit and at rest. For instance, our website is accessible only over HTTPS – this means that data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security). For data stored in our databases, we employ encryption at rest where applicable, so that if the storage were compromised, the data would not be easily readable.
- Access Controls: Personal data is accessible only to those staff, contractors, or service providers who need it to perform their duties. We employ strict access control and authentication mechanisms. Administrative access to systems that contain personal data is logged and restricted. Our team is trained on data security practices and bound by confidentiality obligations.
- Network Security: Our servers are protected by firewalls and monitoring systems to guard against external attacks. We keep software and frameworks updated to patch vulnerabilities. We also utilize intrusion detection and prevention systems. If we use cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), we leverage their security features and best practices as well.
- Testing and Assessments: We periodically test our systems and processes (through security audits, penetration testing, etc.) to identify and fix potential weaknesses. We may also maintain certifications or compliance with recognized security standards (for example, many companies our size adhere to ISO 27001 or follow OWASP guidelines, etc.)
- Anonymization and Minimization: Where possible, we reduce the amount of personal data we store. For example, after using raw data for analytics, we might aggregate or delete the raw personal data. We also avoid collecting sensitive personal data that we do not need.
- Physical Security: Although most data is stored digitally, any physical servers or devices are housed in secure facilities. Our cloud providers have robust physical security controls (guards, access badges, surveillance, etc.). For our office, we ensure that any confidential paperwork or local storage devices are secured.
- Response Plan: In the unlikely event of a data breach or security incident, we have a protocol in place to respond quickly. This includes notifying affected users and authorities as required by law, and taking steps to mitigate the damage.
Your responsibility: You also play a role in keeping your data secure. We urge you to choose a strong, unique password for your Slidea account and keep it confidential. Do not share your login credentials with others. If you suspect any unauthorized access to your account or any security issues, please contact us immediately. We also encourage you to log out after using the Service (especially on shared devices) and to use the latest antivirus software and updated browsers.
By using Slidea, you acknowledge that you understand these security measures and limitations.
10. Children's Privacy
Slidea is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not use our Service or provide any information to us. This is in line with U.S. COPPA regulations and similar laws in other countries.
For users between 13 and 18: If you are a minor but above 13, you should use Slidea only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. Some countries have stricter age requirements (for example, under GDPR in the EU, parental consent may be required until age 16 in some member states). If applicable law requires that you must be older (e.g., 16) for us to lawfully collect your data without parental consent, then that higher age threshold applies and we will accordingly not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age.
Parents and Guardians: If you are aware that your child under 13 (or under the applicable age limit) has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us immediately. We will take steps to remove that information from our servers and terminate the child's account, in compliance with legal requirements. We may ask for proof of your relationship to the child for verification.
If Slidea develops any content or features that are educational and intended for younger audiences, we will do so in a compliant way (for example, a version of the service that can be used by teachers in class with students under 13 might require a different consent mechanism or a separate policy, etc.). But as of the latest update, our general audience service is designed for adult or teen use with the above restrictions.
11. Links to Other Websites and Third-Party Content
Our Service may contain links to external websites or services that are not operated by Slidea. For example, our website might link to a partner's site, or a user's presentation might include a hyperlink to a third-party webpage. Additionally, as part of enriching your presentations or our content, we might enable embedding of third-party content (like YouTube videos, tweets, or external GIFs).
Please note: If you click on a third-party link or view third-party embedded content, you will be directed to that third party's site or that content is being served from the third party's servers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party sites or services, only to Slidea. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every website or service you visit via links or embeds in our platform.
We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. This includes:
- External websites that you might access through a link. They may have their own cookies and data collection.
- Embedded content from other sources: For instance, if a Slidea web page or a presentation includes an embedded YouTube video, viewing that video might allow YouTube/Google to collect data about you (as if you visited YouTube directly). They could use cookies or track interactions like play/pause.
- Third-Party Integrations you choose to use, as discussed (e.g., integrations or social logins, which are covered by Google's and the social platform's policies respectively in terms of their use of your data).
Special Note on GIFs and Media from Third-Party Libraries: Slidea may integrate with third-party GIF libraries or media sources (such as Unsplash, Tenor, etc.) to allow you to add animated images or clips to your slides for fun and engagement. While we strive to filter content for appropriateness, these libraries are external sources and may occasionally include GIFs or media that are 18+ or mature in nature. This content is outside our direct control. By using the GIF search/integration feature, you acknowledge the potential for encountering such mature content and agree to our terms regarding third-party integrations. We recommend discretion, especially if using the platform in environments with minors or sensitive audiences. If you find any content truly inappropriate, please let us know and we can adjust filters if possible.
Summary: Whenever you leave our platform or bring outside content into it, the protections of Slidea's Privacy Policy no longer apply on that external content. Nonetheless, we do try to partner only with reputable third parties and provide a safe environment. If you have concerns about any third-party link or content on Slidea, feel free to reach out and we will see if anything on our side can be improved.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy operates independently of our Terms of Service. We reserve the right to revise it periodically to accommodate changes in our business practices, compliance requirements, or to enhance transparency. When we make changes, we will let you know by appropriate means:
- Posting the Updated Policy: Any changes will be posted on this page (the Slidea Privacy Policy page). The "Last Updated" date at the top will be revised so you can tell at a glance if the policy has changed since you last read it.
- Notification: If changes are significant or materially affect your rights or how we use your data, we will provide a more prominent notice. For example, we might display a notice on our website's homepage or dashboard, or send you an email notification, prior to the change becoming effective. We may also use in-app notifications for this purpose.
- Advance Notice for Material Changes: We aim to give you advance notice (for instance, a heads-up 5 days before new terms take effect) when the changes are major. This gives you the opportunity to review the new Privacy Policy and decide if you are comfortable with it. If you continue to use Slidea after the effective date of the updated policy, it will signify acceptance of those changes.
- Review and Stay Informed: We encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy for any changes. If you subscribe to updates or have an account, we'll try our best to inform you, but checking our policy page once in a while is good practice.
If you do not agree with the changes to the Privacy Policy, you have the choice to stop using our Service and, if you are a registered user, you may delete your account as described. We'll be sorry to see you go, but we respect your right to privacy and choice.
This Privacy Policy is an agreement between Slidea and you as the user. It is not a contract with any third party. Changes to this Policy will not retroactively reduce your privacy rights without your consent.
